Laguna Hills, situated in the rolling hills between Laguna Niguel and Mission Viejo, boasts award-winning schools, attractive neighborhoods, horse property, parks, fine dining, shopping and entertainment experiences. The beach is just minutes away.

This South Orange County city incorporated on December 20, 1981 and is largely a master planned community developed for a balance between new residential neighborhoods (single family houses and condos), parks, schools and business space. The city enjoys access to the Orange County trail system — ideal for adventurous hikers, horseback riders and mountain bikers. Abundant parks and youth sports programs enhance the attraction of this vibrant community.

The City of Laguna Hills is home to over 30,000 people as well as the Laguna Hills Mall — one of the largest in South Orange County.

Historically, “Rancho Niguel” was the private property of Juan Avila, a resident of San Juan Capistrano, who obtained title to the land through a Mexican land grant in 1842 — title he re-established after California became US territory in 1848.

In 1894, “Rancho Niguel” became part of the Moulton Company. Their subsequent “Moulton Ranch” was subdivided in the early 1960s, and some of this became today’s Laguna Hills.

Laguna Hills falls in the ZIP Codes 92637, 92653, 92654, and 92656.

Laguna Hills is noted for its large and exclusive equestrian community — Nellie Gail Ranch. The neighborhood boasts its own Tennis Club, Swim Center, and Equestrian Center for the enjoyment of its residents. Nellie Gail Ranch also features five park, 20 miles of riding trails, and over 5000 trees on its 1350 acres.

A bit of trivia: Yes, Nellie Gail was a real person. She was married to Lewis F. Moulton, 25 years her senior, holder of Moulton Ranch in the late 1800’s and early 1900s. Mrs. Moulton was reputedly fond of horses, but preferred carriage riding to horseback and sidesaddle. Lewis Moulton died in 1938. Mrs. Moulton and their children continued to manage the property until it was purchased by developers in the 1960s. Nellie Gail Moulton died in 1973 at the age of 94.

Laguna Hills lies within ZIP Codes 92637, 92653, 92654 and 92656.
