Costa Mesa, boasts award-winning schools, attractive neighborhoods, plus new world-class shopping, dining and entertainment venues. The city’s rolling hills and level mesas offer picturesque views of the Saddleback mountains, streams, parks, valleys, city lights and the Pacific Ocean — all within minutes of the beach. The city is home to world-famous South Coast Plaza, one of the highest volume regional shopping centers in the nation — with over 300 stores and generating over one billion dollars in sales per year.

Historically, the City of Costa Mesa sprung from a stop on the Santa Ana and Newport Railroad. After WWII, many families flocked to the area which featured affordable living near the ocean. Today, over 109,000 Costa Mesa residents enjoy a balance of homes, businesses, stores, light manufacturing and facilities.

In addition to South Coast Plaza, Costa Mesa is also home to the Orange County Fairgrounds — a country fair in a suburban setting. The fairgrounds play host to the annual county fair that features equestrian events, livestock competitions, culinary competitions, gardening competitions and is a showcase for local goods and services. At other times, the fairgrounds host everything from concerts to model train shows, antique and collectible shows, corporate events and more. Adjacent to the fairgrounds is the outdoor Pacific Amphitheater which hosts musical concerts year round.

Known as the ‘The City of the Arts’, Costa Mesa is home to both the Orange County Performing Arts Center and the South Coast Repertory Theater. The performing arts center hosts concerts of every sort. The theater often features off-Broadway shows and stage productions.

Major employers in the city include Experian, IBM, Hyundai Motor Company and Orange Coast College.

The youth culture is alive and well in Costa Mesa, also known as the ‘Action Sports Capital of the World’. With its proximity to the Pacific Ocean, the city has given birth or is now the home of many of the leading companies in the surf-skate-wear industry, including Quiksilver, Paul Frank, Hurley, RVCA, and Volcom.

Costa Mesa lies within ZIP Codes 92626, 92627 and 92628.

A bit of trivia: Costa Mesa is Spanish for ‘Coastal Plateau’. Fitting.
